Legacies to Sarum College

Remembering Sarum College in your will is straightforward.

There are three main ways in which you can leave a legacy:

Residuary legacy

This is when you leave to Sarum College Trust all or some of what remains of your estate after all other bequests and expenses have been deducted. This type of gift ensures that (a) those you care for are provided for, and (b) has the additional benefit of keeping pace with inflation.

Suggested wording:

I give all (or a ___% share) of the residue of my estate, after payment of my debts, funeral expenses and inheritance tax liability, to Sarum College Trust, 19 The Close, Salisbury, Wiltshire SP1 2EE (registered charity number 509301) for its general charitable purposes, and I direct that the receipt of the Finance Officer or duly authorised officer shall be a good discharge to my executors.

Pecuniary legacy

This is when you leave a gift of a specified amount of money to Sarum College Trust eg £5,000. Please remember, a gift of this type may be devalued by inflation over time.

Suggested wording:

I give to Sarum College Trust, 19 The Close, Salisbury, Wiltshire SP1 2EE (registered charity number 509301) the sum of amount in figures and words for its general charitable purposes, and I direct that the receipt of the Finance Officer or duly authorised officer shall be a good discharge to my executors.
