Beyond the Library Door Discovery Day

A free day for everyone to come and discovery more about two special, but little known, libraries: Salisbury Cathedral Library and Sarum College Library.

Saturday 20 October 2018

Beyond the Library Door is a new project to catalogue and clean our old and rare books. Find out about our collections of thousands of rare books dating back to the 15th century (we want to tell you about what we’ve discovered so far) and see our Library Preservation Volunteers in action cleaning and condition recording the books.

  • 10:00-11:30: Beautiful Bindings and Wonderful Words – Show and Tell by the librarians and volunteers. Held in Salisbury Cathedral
  • 12:00-13:00 & 15.00-16.00: Drop-in Book Cleaning Demonstrations at Sarum College. Come and chat to our Library Preservation Volunteers. There is more to cleaning a book than you might think!
  • 13:00-16:00: Drop-in Library Open Afternoons and Displays at Salisbury Cathedral Library and Sarum College Library

Beyond the Library Door is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, The Sackler Trust, The Pilgrim Trust and others.

Sorry O was not able to attend your open day.

Do you by chance have a list of your pre-reformation books ( plus any that are indicative of struggles immediately post-reformation)?

    Thanks in advance.

    Sincerely,

    M Pearson.
