I initially trained as a teacher. After teaching in North West London I came to Salisbury where I taught Theology and Biblical Studies to University Entrance level and became Deputy Head of a local grammar school. After taking an MA(Ed) at Southampton university I was seconded to the Local Authority to work as part of their advisory team specialising in Social and Health Education, citizenship and sex education. For some years I was an OFSTED inspector of schools working for both Wiltshire LEA and Cambridge Associates. I inspected in Religious Education and SMSC (Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural education) largely in city centre Comprehensive schools.

Ordained in 1995 I became Director of the Sarum Christian Centre, an ecumenical resource for Salisbury whilst serving my curacy as Chaplain in Salisbury Cathedral. I became Diocesan Director of Ordinands in 2002. A rural parish priest for ten years I also became the Bishop’s Domestic Chaplain caring for his household and being a pastoral resource for diocesan clergy.

Officially retired, I now serve as Pastoral Tutor within the ministry team and have a special interest in formation. I head a team who care for retired clergy in Wiltshire and am attached to a local rural benefice and the Cathedral.
