Spiritual Insights of Anglo-Welsh Poetry

This day will be a preparation for the seasons of Remembrance, All Saints/All Souls, Advent and Christmas, through reflection on poetry in the Anglo-Welsh tradition.

We will draw on the writing of George Herbert, Henry Vaughan, Wilfred Owen, Mary Webb, David Jones, Vernon Watkins, RS Thomas, Gillian Clarke, Rowan Williams, Manon Ceridwen James and others, to offer theological insights and imaginative resources for personal spirituality, preaching and public ministry.

Tutor:
Mark Pryce is Bishop’s Adviser for continuing ministerial development in Birmingham diocese. He is a published poet and practical theologian who draws on poetry to reimagine Scripture and renew the spiritual life of individuals and churches. He grew up in Oswestry, Wilfred Owen’s native town in the Welsh Marches.
