Harold Wilson Fund

Harold Wilson PortraitCanon Harold Wilson was Principal from 1965 to 1973 of Salisbury Theological College and later Salisbury & Wells.

Widely respected for his pioneering work at the Church of England Board of Education, as the ‘Prin,’ Wilson championed experiential group work which changed theological education in this country. He was also a wonderfully caring priest.

The Harold Wilson Fund helps to support and preserve this important legacy to theological learning and the environment in which it can thrive at Sarum College.

People tell us about their experience of coming here: what they find when they walk though the Close gate and find their way into our college. We think it may be that there is a special kind of holy ground when so many feet from so many faithful people from so many centuries have stood here, and prayed and touched the love of God.

We continue today in the tradition that Harold created here – of weaving together place and learning, knowledge and enquiry, thoughts and feelings, discipleship and vocation.

Your donation to the Harold Wilson Fund helps us to preserve a legacy of theological learning and the environment in which it can thrive.

Regular Giving & Donations

Regular giving is a convenient way for you to contribute to a foundation of support for essential building and programme resources. Regular giving enables the College to plan for the future and is an endorsement of our stewardship and vision.

You can give to the Harold Wilson Fund online via our CAF profile.

You can also give by downloading our Supporting Sarum College leaflet or by sending a cheque payable to Sarum College to The Development Office, Sarum College, 19 The Close, Salisbury, SP1 2EE. Please write Harold Wilson Fund on the reverse of the cheque.

Leaving a Legacy

Making a will is one of the most important things each of us can do. This ensures that our wishes are carried out after our death and gives us the peace of mind to know that our loved ones and the causes we care about will be provided for in the future.

It is important also to review your Will on a regular basis and when your circumstances change. If you have already made a Will and wish to add a gift to the College then a codicil to your Will might be a cost effective way to do this. When making or revising a Will or adding a codicil we recommend that you seek professional advice to ensure your wishes are properly reflected.

If you would like to schedule a confidential discussion, telephone Christine Nielsen-Craig on 01722 424812 or email cnc@sarum.ac.uk.
