Different Awards and Modules Studied

We offer both undergraduate and postgraduate awards.

Which one a student takes depends on prior theological learning and the time given to training, and is discussed with the student and the sponsoring church. Postgraduate awards require a previous degree in Theology.

Those training for Licensed Lay Ministry normally take the three year part time DipHE.

Undergraduate Awards

Certificate in Higher Education (CertHE) – this is equivalent to the first 18 months of a degree course, and is taken by more mature students training for Associate Ministry over two years part time.

Diploma in Higher Education (DipHE) – this is equivalent to the first two years of a degree course, and is taken over three years part time or two years full time. Students with some previous theological training can sometimes be given credit for that learning by Common Awards, and with the agreement of the sponsoring church complete this pathway in two years part time. This covers all required for students training for Incumbent status ministry.

BA (Hons) – this is taken over three years full time. Students with some previous theological training can sometimes be given credit for that learning by Common Awards, and with the agreement of the sponsoring church complete this pathway in three years part time or two years part time.

Postgraduate Awards, for those with a previous degree in Theology

MA – this is taken over three years part time or two years full time. Students also audit some of the undergraduate modules in order to cover all formational aspects required.

Post Graduate Diploma (PGDip) – this is taken over two years part time, and is the same as the MA but without a final dissertation. Students also audit some of the undergraduate modules in order to cover all formational aspects required.
