God Revealed in Art – Day 2: Evil, Sin and Suffering

Why is there evil in the world? Why are the sins of pride, envy, lust and murder so bad? Why do innocent people suffer? How does Christ’s suffering affect our suffering today?

We shall explore these challenging and fundamental questions by examining paintings by several artists, from the 11th century to the 21st.

    • The Reverend Henry Kirk is a school chaplain and teacher of religious studies. With degrees in philosophy and theology, and a diploma in the history of art, he has a particular interest in using art to teach philosophy, ethics and theology. He has given lectures to teachers in England and Australia and for Oxford University’s Department for Continuing Education.
