True Paul, late Paul, or not Paul at all?

  • Date & Time: Tuesday, 3 Jul 2012, 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Part of Theology Quest & Questions

Many scholars believe that some of the letters attributed to Paul are in fact attempts by Paul’s followers to extend the Pauline tradition in the period after his death. Different scholars come to different judgements about what is and is not ‘true Paul’. We will look at both Ephesians and the so-called Pastoral Letters (1 & 2 Timothy and Titus) in this light.

We may try and set this question alongside musical parallels by asking: What characterizes late Beethoven, late Mozart? And what characterizes early Turner or late Picasso?
