The MA in Christian Liturgy is taught by a team of tutors all of whom are recognised experts in their field. Further information on each person is avaliable by clicking on their name. Other people may be invited to give lectures and seminars from time to time.

juliette dayDr Juliette Day directs the MA in Christian Liturgy and is Director of Liturgical Studies at Sarum College. She is also Senior Research Fellow in Christian Liturgy at Blackfriars Hall, University of Oxford and is involved in promoting liturgical studies in the UK by her involvement in the Society for Liturgical Study and the Alcuin Club. She researches and publishes on patristic and contemporary topics in the field.

Professor Paul Bradshaw of Notre Dame University, USA is a leading liturgical scholars and teacher. He has published extensively on early liturgical sources and sits on the Liturgical Commission of the Church of England.

 Dr Bridget Nichols is lay chaplain and research assistant to the Anglican Bishop of Ely and a specialist on the history of Anglican liturgy as well as worship in the contemporary Church of England.

Professor Tom O’Loughlin, University of Nottingham is an expert on latin liturgical texts and issues in contemporary Roman Catholic worship. He brings the wider perspective of historical theology to the study of liturgy.

Dr Alistair Stewart-Sykes researches and publishes on a variety of topics in the early history of Christian liturgy.

Professor Martin Stringer of Birmingham University, who holds the only chair in liturgical studies in the UK. From his background in anthropology, he specialises in interpreting contemporary worship using methods drawn from the social sciences.

Dr Phillip Tovey of the Diocese of Oxford, Oxford Brookes University and Ripon College Cuddesdon is an experienced teacher of liturgical studies for ministerial training. He has a particular interest in the use of surveys in analysing contemporary worship, in the role of culture and in the Malabar church of India.

Dr Tom Whelan of the Milltown Institute of Theology and Philosophy in Dublin draws upon his experience as a missioner to reflect and publish on the relationship between mission, culture and christian worship.

Sarum Expands MA programmes

Sarum College will introduce two new MA programmes, one in Faith-based Leadership and one in Theology, Imagination and Culture, in January 2011. These programmes will run alongside the two programmes currently offered, MA in Christian Spirituality and MA in Christian Liturgy.
