Uniquely dedicated to intellectual exploration of faith and mission, Sarum College continues to build on its strength in the area of theological research and teaching.
As with the College's other subject areas, there are a number of ways to pursue theological enquiry here, from short courses to public lectures to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. An MA degree programme in Theology, Imagination and Culture is due to begin in January 2011.
As host to the Southern Theological Education and Training Scheme (STETS), which delivers the region’s initial ministerial training for the Church of England and other churches, Sarum College’s theological programmes benefit enormously from a cooperative relationship between the two organisations.
Theology Quest and Questions (TQQ) is a successful example of this collaboration. This course, which offers the opportunity to attain a Level 1 university certificate, is an ideal introduction to the study of Christian theology.
These study opportunities, along with intensive courses such as Biblical Study Breaks and annual events such as the Sarum Theological Lectures, are among the many ways in which Sarum College makes specialist work in this area accessible to a wide audience.
Sarum is also exploring religious education in the United Kingdom in more depth with a view to organising ad hoc initiatives that serve as a catalyst for critical thinking in this area and help to support institutions that provide religious education.
