Programme Leader for Postgraduate Programmes in Theology, Imagination and Culture
Dr McLaughlin’s research interests include Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s theology, theological anthropology, and disability theology. She discussed the ideas and life of Dietrich Bonhoeffer on BBC’s Radio 4 programme ‘In Our Time’ in 2018.
In March 2021 she will give an address entitled ‘Disability, Technology and Human Flourishing’ for the Human Flourishing in a Technological Age public lecture series hosted by Regent College in Vancouver.
Alongside her role as Theology, Imagination and Culture programme leader, Dr McLaughlin is a Research Associate at the Oxford Centre for Religion and Culture.
Her publications include Unconscious Christianity in Bonhoeffer’s Late Theology: Encounters with the Unknown Christ. Foreword by Rowan Williams (Lexington Books/Fortress Academic, 2020), and ‘Disability, Technology, and Human Flourishing,’ in Human Flourishing in a Technological World: A Theological Vision, edited by Jens Zimmermann and Michael Burdett (Oxford University Press, forthcoming 2021).
Her previous posts were Lecturer in Theology and Ethics at Regent’s Park College, University of Oxford, and Course Coordinator for the Applied Theology postgraduate programmes at the Faculty of Theology and Religion at Oxford. She has also worked at the University of Winchester as Lecturer in Theology and Ethics.
She holds a DPhil from the University of Oxford and a master’s degree from the University of Geneva.
