2015 Magna Carta Lectures Seminar with Lesley Smith (Rescheduled Date)
- Course Dates: Sat 25 July 2015, 10:00 am to 12:45 pm

Professor Lesley Smith will run two sessions on medieval manuscripts at Salisbury Cathedral Library.
The Cathedral Library preserves medieval manuscripts whose contents and physical presence bring to life the teaching and learning of the Middle Ages.
Though not lavishly illuminated, the developing form of these books shows medieval scholars wrestling with new and appropriate ways of presenting knowledge, with innovation in design and layout. Within the space of a century, we can trace how “book technology” was adapted to keep up with the demands of new ideas.
Nothing needed except an interest in books and clean hands!
There will be two seminar sessions, one from 10am to 11.15am and the second from 11.30am to 12.45pm. Please note that access to the library at Salisbury Cathedral is via a narrow staircase consisting of 37 steps.
