2017 Implicit Religion Conference: Edward Bailey Lecture
- Course Dates: Fri 19 May 2017, 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm

This public lecture forms part of the 2017 Implicit Religion Conference.
The lecture, which is open to attendees of the conference as well as members of the public, will be given by Brent Plate, Associate Professor at Hamilton College in New York State.
The title of the lecture is “Cinema and the Re-Creation of the World: On Myths and Rituals Before the Screen.”
The lecture is in honour of Edward Bailey whose work was pioneering and challenging in that it questioned a widely held assumption that religion was the sole prerogative of institutions devoted to religion.
The inaugural Edward Bailey Lecture took place at Sarum College in May 2016 and was given by Professor Grace Davie.
