Literature and Spirituality

This module will give students the tools required to analyse modern English fiction and poetry in their relations to Christian Spirituality.

It will encourage the skilful use of primary and secondary material in order to assess the spiritual character of the works of individual writers. Students will be enabled to demonstrate the relationship between Christian Spirituality and English literature.

Those not on the MA programme are very welcome to book on this module as an auditor.

Tutors:
Karen O'Donnell is Coordinator for the Centre for Contemporary Spirituality and Programme Leader for the MA in Christian Spirituality at Sarum College. She is a feminist, ecumenical, practical theologian whose interdisciplinary research interests span theology, spirituality, and pedagogy. Barnabas Palfrey is Lecturer in Spirituality at Sarum College. He has a wide range of theological and spirituality interests, particularly as they relate to philosophy. Guest lecturers to be confirmed.
