This day is an introduction to the Christian theology of place.
It particularly relates to the parish system in England. This day has three sessions. We look first at the idea that God is in this place. We introduce a Christian theology of place, including place in scripture and Anglican tradition and an overview of how human and physical geography contribute to our understanding of locality, with discussion. Session 2 looks at Common Ground and the history and influence of the English parish. We consider a thousand years of the parish system in England and how it has shaped our place, both positively and negatively. The final session is Building Jerusalem: The place to come, specifically looking at the possible futures for the parish system and how placemaking is central to the vocation of the local church.
