Biblical Responses to Crisis Series: The Death of Jesus, the Destruction of the Temple, and Mark’s Gospel: Mark 11:1 – 16:8
- Course Dates: Thu 22 October 2020, 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm

Much of the Bible is a response to crisis – be it the Babylonian exile or the death of Jesus. In a time of global pandemic, these three sessions will revisit biblical attempts to find meaning amidst cataclysmic events.
Together we will explore: Using the flood myth to process experiences of devastation; expressing grief, anger, and hope through the Psalms; and facing up to violence and suffering with Mark’s Gospel.
Participants will be asked to read a few biblical chapters in advance. This is an online course: each session will include a presentation on ways of reading and interpreting those chapters, followed by plenty of time for discussion and questions.
