Can There Be a Theology of Art? What Would it Look Like?

  • Course Dates: Fri 15 November, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm

This day will look at several theologians who have written about art, and develop some of their more fruitful lines of enquiry.

It will also include a brief survey of some major theologians’ work in the field. The heart of the day will be using Trinitarian theology as a way of gaining critical insight into the evident spirituality of many works of modern as well as more traditional art. The challenge is to find a rich theology of art that might broaden the scope of theology itself, as well as transforming how works of art are analysed.
