Doing Theology in Middle Earth: Exploring the Thought World of JRR Tolkien
- Course Dates: Sat 18 November 2017, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm

This day will look at JRR Tolkien’s inspiration and interest in theology.
We’ll conduct a detailed survey of the Lord of the Rings, covering themes such as pessimism, defeat, failure and pity.
The day will include discussion of Tolkien’s other writings, The Silmarillion and On Fairy-Stories, and feature recordings of his readings and his poetry set to music.
