God on the Streets: Spirituality, Social Engagement, and Christian Authenticity
- Course Dates: Wed 8 March 2017, 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm

Join Dr Gillian Ahlgren, theologian and scholar of the Christian mystical tradition, for talk and book launch as she explores the intersection of spirituality and social justice, past and present.
In a reflection Incorporating her pastoral experience working with formerly homeless women and women recovering from domestic violence, she will raise questions about the relationship between the mystical and the prophetic dimensions of Christianity, what is to be learned at the margins, and how the spiritual life feeds and encourages a personal and shared commitment to social justice.
The talk will be followed by the launch of Gillian’s new book The Tenderness of God: Reclaiming Our Humanity. The book invites readers into a rich conversation across time and space about how to recapture our humanity and nurture our God-given capacity to live meaningfully and joyfully in communion with others.
