Gospel of Matthew
- Course Dates: Wed 20 November 2019, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm

A gospel that can scale the heights of theological wisdom and at the same time seem to descend to a low level of judgmental bitterness in its treatment of Jews and Judaism has to pose challenges for all who make it the focus of a year’s reflection and worship, all, that is, who want to make it the basis for communicating week by week the Christian gospel.
No shunner of controversy with Jews or, for that matter, Christians of an alternative outlook, Matthew invites us once again to understand and make up our minds about his convictions concerning Jesus, his perspectives on ethics, his apparent conservatism on matters of ethnicity and gender, and a host of other tantalizing issues. In this study day, we set out to prepare for a year that should prove, let’s say, interesting!
