Pastoral Liturgy Day: Liturgy that Nurtures: The Pastoral Power of Worship

  • Course Dates: Tue 10 November, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm

An exploration of how liturgy can be a powerful element of pastoral ministry in a parish or other worshipping communities.

Attention will be given both to the occasional offices, and the routine Eucharistic worship of a parish, demonstrating that both can be powerful pastoral ministries.

The liturgical worship of the parish carries with it pastoral opportunities as well as those of teaching and discipleship. In this day course we will explore the ways in which liturgy has a pastoral aspect, focusing for half of the day on the ‘occasional offices’, and in particular on the rites of healing and Ministry to the sick, and in the other half of the day on the routine Eucharistic worship offered Sunday by Sunday in so many parishes. We will look at the ways in which the liturgy carries with it a strong pastoral dimension, with the opportunity to transform and minister to those engaged in it in profound ways.
