Liturgical Training in the Church of England With Jo Spreadbury
Is good liturgical leadership and liturgical formation caught or taught? Bishop Michael’s own style of presiding and officiating was able to evoke a vivid sense of the presence and reality of God. He could welcome people with informal friendliness and then gather them seamlessly into prayer and worship. For those who were not able to learn from him at first hand, Bishop Michael wrote and spoke extensively and supported Praxis in its work of offering training and liturgical resources.
This contribution will look at +Michael’s approach to liturgical training, and asses the vital importance of modelling good leading in liturgical worship and offering essential training for ministers to ensure the future of the Church of England.
