Playing with Words: A Morning with Harry Baker

  • Course Dates: Tue 13 July, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm

A chance to spend a day with world poetry slam champion Harry Baker, hearing, writng and performing your own poems (if your feel comfortable doing so!) as well as looking at the power language, and particularly poetry, has to capture a moment.

We use words to communicate every day and yet so many of us don’t think about what we say.

Harry says:

By getting involved in the performance poetry world I have loved the chance to hear words that give me goosebumps, that make me laugh and that make me cry.

Whether you are a complete beginner or have been secretly writing masterpieces for years this will be a chance to write and share some words in a pressure-free environment, as well as explore some of the different ways poetry can speak to us.

Harry participated in last year’s Words of Life and Death: Poetry and Culture in Crisis series presented by the Oxford Centre for Religion and Culture (OCRC) in association with Sarum College (see below).
