Preparing for 2030: Mission, Megatrends and the Future of the Church Conference
- Course Dates: Mon 27 June 2016, 12:00 pm to Wed 29 June 2016, 2:00 pm

2030 is being seen as a major tipping point for a number of contemporary crises.
Global warming, ecological degradation, biodiversity, over population and the increasing scarcity of clean available water.
Arguably the church has been in crises ever since the collapse of Christendom and the rapid expansion of popular culture and new technologies in the 1960’s. Responses to the increasing marginalization of the church from public life and social influence have been many and varied, but very few have stemmed the tide of decline or created new benchmarks to guide our mission and measure success.
While cycles of growth and decline have affected the church before throughout history, the tsunami of cultural change that is sweeping all before it in our time raises fundamental questions about the very nature and possible futures of the church which none of us can predict or anticipate. This is not an easy time to be in church leadership.
This conference will attempt to bring to the fore the major cultural shifts and global megatrends to which the church must respond if it is to survive, as well as suggest forms of leadership and mission that must now become our common agenda.
