Stories from The Other Half of Holy Week: Earth
- Course Dates: Mon 6 April, 10:00 am to 4:30 pm
Unfortunately, this event has been cancelled.
Drawing on the Gospel narratives between Psalm Sunday and Maundy Thursday, these days offer the opportunity for learning, prayer, and reflection before the Easter weekend.
This is the first of three days in the Holy Week series. Miles Irving of Forager Ltd will lead the second day, Return from Exile and the Way Back In: Bodies, Land and Community. The final day, Love, will be led by Dr Karen O’Donnell, Coordinator for the Centre for Contemporary Spirituality.
Those who wish to attend more than one day for a prolonged Holy Week retreat can stay B&B at Sarum College at a reduced educational rate.
In Holy Week 2020 at Sarum we are focusing on ‘Living in the Other Half of Holy Week’ reading the narratives of Palm Sunday to Maundy Thursday.
Andy Lester Conservation Director at A Rocha UK a Christian charity which works to protect and restore the natural world, offers the first day of our Holy Week 2020 retreat focused on ‘Earth’ and caring for our environment.
The sessions will be discursive, informative and interactive in nature.
- Session 1 will look at the challenges currently facing the planet;
- Session 2 will consider the Biblical response to the crisis;
- Session 3 will unpack imaginative solutions to a range of challenging issues.
There will be opportunity throughout the day to reflect on the Gospel texts between Palm Sunday and Maundy Thursday, space for prayerful individual reflection and communal response.
Lament, reflection and hope: A look at the biblical mandate to care for our world, the challenges facing the planet and an exploration of creative solutions alongside space for prayer and reflection.
