Bristol-based theatre and music performance company, Concert Theatre, bring to life Anne Brontë’s groundbreaking work The Tenant of Wildfell Hall.
In this theatrical performance, a live pianist is juxtaposed with two actors on stage.
Music and drama collide to offer new perspectives on Brontë’s portrayal of a woman’s struggle for independence and creative freedom. Audiences are invited to engage in the text’s classical setting and thematic concerns through the work of three composers: Scriabin, Mozart and Brahms.
Tickets for this evening are £12 (£10 each when 4+ are brought together) and are available from Sarum College by telephoning 01722 424800 or online via EventBrite (£1.26 fee applies online).
“This was not a pianist offering background mood music – rather the words, their rhythm and cadence, were intricately interwoven with the score. It became something quite different to what either could achieve on their own – and was poignant and beautiful.”
– Martin Cullingford, Gramophone
– Michael White, The Telegraph
