TQQ: The Holy Spirit and the Development of Doctrine

It seems as if the Holy Spirit is absent from the earliest church fathers and is only discussed in the fourth century.
We will touch on how the Spirit was seen during that period, including the challenge posed by the Montanists, as confirming the validity leadership and authentic belief. The Spirit’s presence was undoubtedly seen as vital but claims to the Spirit’s authority were also a problem. Under the surface lurks the question: Can Christianity find room for prophecy?
