TQQ: The Spirit and the Church
- Course Dates: Tue 5 May 2015, 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm

The Christian experience, both individual and corporate, of the Holy Spirit is rooted in Israel’s experience of God in presence and in power.
For the Jewish people, and for the Christian community, the Spirit was often found to be unpredictable and disturbing, as well as empowering, inspiring and enlivening. Sometimes the Church tended to ‘domesticate’ the Spirit and assume the authorization of the Spirit for its own position; at other times this came to be seen as dangerously un-self-critical and due for some prophetic Spirit-inspired renewal. We will examine what it means in the 21st century to understand the Church as called by God, living ‘in Christ’, and energized by the Spirit.
