About the Birthing The Next Generation of Church course
The course will be interactive with discussion, movement and group work.
We will begin by considering where we are in the history of the church, the nature of God as one who is both Alpha and Omega – a starter, sustainer and completer/finisher – and which aspect of his nature we naturally most identify with ourselves. Then we’ll consider the pioneer nature of Jesus, and how he affirms and encourages people to be risk-takers and innovators. We finish by looking at stories of infertile women in the Scriptures and I tell my own story drawing a metaphorical line between these stories and the current situation of the church – then imagine what God might do through us as he did through them to birth the next generation of the people of God.
About the Tutor
Tina Hodgett has had two parish roles since ordination in 2008, one in an outer urban housing estate on the edge of Nottingham and one in Portishead. She enjoyed going with ‘up-for-it’ members of the church (often older folk) into the community to share the gospel in new ways. She has recently completed a post for the Diocese of Bath and Wells fostering culture change through imagination, creativity and innovation and now works across the south and south west of England supporting pioneers.
