About the The Word in the World course
A Rough Guide To… Logos Theology
What does faith in Christ the Word mean for the church today?
In a time where words are slippery and often not to be trusted, this course explores the relevance of Christ as the Word of God for reflections on preaching and proclamation, creative practice and relationship with the natural world.
This online course will introduce the foundations of Logos theology in the scriptures and the early church, before turning to imaginations of the Word of God in modern theology, particularly in the work of Karl Barth, Dietrich Bonhoeffer and Karl Rahner.
The sessions explore the power of the Word as something spoken – a message addressed to humanity, the creativity of the Word as an expression of the mind of God, the paradox of the Word as present in an unhearing world, and the Word as poem, a model for encountering Christ.
This day explores the implications of Logos theology for Christology, for preaching and proclamation, for creative practice and for our relationship with the natural world.
