Visiting Scholar, Leadership Learning
Tim’s special interests include viewing organisations as ecosystems, insights from the complexity sciences, and attachment theory.
He has contributed to a number of books, including Faithful Improvisation: Theological Reflection on Church Leadership (CHP, 2016) and Developing Leadership: Questions Business Schools Don’t Ask (Sage, 2015). His articles have been published in such journals as Business Ethics: European Review and the Journal of Management, Spirituality and Religion.
Tim is a Licensed Lay Minister in the Church of England and a Member of the British Academy of Management.
His early career took him from a secondment with the US Navy to working with UK government ministers in Whitehall. He subsequently worked in project and senior management roles in service industries, ranging from a FTSE100 company to a family owned SME. After three decades of being too busy to reflect, he found himself drawn to the unexpectedly overlapping worlds of seminaries and business schools.
These twin interests were reflected in his appointments as a Lay Canon on the Chapter of Bristol Cathedral and a Visiting Research Fellow at UWE Bristol. Tim was Programme Leader for Sarum College’s MA in Christian Approaches to Leadership, and an Associate of the Susanna Wesley Foundation at the University of Roehampton. Other appointments include supervising a Lambeth Research Degree, and serving as External Examiner for Masters programmes at the Universities of Brighton and Gloucestershire.
