Keeping us safe – January 2022

Home News Keeping us safe – January 2022

6 January 2021

As people around the world face the consequences of the Omicron variant of COVID-19, we wish to outline the steps we are taking at Sarum College to ensure our students, guests and staff are safe and healthy by following the UK government’s  Plan B guidelines.

All the College’s public areas are open, and healthy people are welcome to use our library and refectory as normal. Face coverings in all public areas are mandatory.

Sarum College staff continue to follow strict hygiene protocols. We have reinforced the rules regarding good personal hygiene with all staff and we have posted NHS information around the building to remind guests and visitors as well.

We continue to conduct regular cleaning and sanitizing of all public contact points in the building such as door handles, reception counters and meeting rooms. Enhanced cleaning procedures for guest rooms also continues.

We are also continuing to air all meeting rooms and public areas as well as guest bedrooms on a regular basis to help reduce the risk of infection to everyone in College.

There are hand sanitizers and tissues throughout our buildings to help people comply with the NHS advice to ‘catch it, kill it, bin it’ if they need to sneeze.

Our kitchen has the highest (five star) food hygiene rating and we have enhanced our cleaning regime in line with the latest public health guidelines.

Some courses and events are running as planned or via online connections. Some courses may be postponed or cancelled in cases where doing so could help to protect those at higher risk of serious illness as a result of contracting the coronavirus.

We ask that during this time visitors should avoid coming to the College if they feel unwell, particularly if they have coughs, sneezes, fever or any other symptoms as associated with coronavirus.

Staff who fall ill are instructed to err on the side of caution and follow government guidance to undertake a LFT (lateral flow test), followed by a PCR if required. We are closely monitoring the situation to make sure we are taking all precautions to protect our visitors and colleagues and will update in line with changes to the public health situation and guidelines. Staff are encouraged to take regular LFTs.

We will update our courses and events diary with any changes to the schedule or format. If you have any questions about a particular event or course, please contact us on courses@sarum.ac.uk or 01722 424800.

Thank you for taking the time to read this message and please take care.
