The Close is in central Salisbury, a five-minute walk from the High Street with shops, cafes and a twice-weekly market. There are excellent arts and cultural venues, including the Salisbury Playhouse, City Hall, Odeon cinema (located in a medieval hall owned by a 15th century wool merchant), as well as award-winning museums and Mompesson House, a fine National Trust property.
If you’re looking for nightlife you will find dozens of buzzing restaurants, pubs and bars just a few minutes walk away.
But when you re-enter the Close and the heavy medieval door of Sarum College at no. 19 shuts behind you, the cathedral’s illuminated beauty is yours to contemplate in peaceful isolation.
By day, Sarum is a working ecumenical college with a full educational programme specialising in theology and spirituality. Many students choose to stay at Sarum while attending their courses but our rooms and hospitiality are open to all.
