About Sarum College

Our Vision…

Sarum College is an ecumenical centre for Christian study and research where our passion is learning that nourishes the human spirit. Welcoming people of all faiths and none, we offer space and time for enquiring minds to grow in wisdom and courage.

Our courses, conferences, and facilities are open to people of all faiths and no faith. Founded in 1995, the College is based in historic grade 1-listed buildings with a heritage of theological education stretching back more than 150 years in Salisbury’s Cathedral Close.

Our educational programme is organised in seven Sarum Centres of Learning.

These Centres offer a variety of courses within our specialist areas of Contemporary Spirituality, Theology, Imagination and Culture, Formation in Ministry, Liturgy and Worship, Human Flourishing, Encountering the Bible and Leadership Learning.

Postgraduate programmes are validated by the University of Winchester and can lead to a postgraduate certificate, postgraduate diploma or an MA degree. Some places are set aside for those who wish to attend postgraduate modules without seeking a qualification.

Short courses range from short evening lectures to four-day residentials and plenty in between. The content also ranges widely, from academic to experimental to leisurely.

We also offer a range of ministry training programmes validated by Durham University and students can choose full-time, part-time or practice-based study and training.

These courses create opportunities for all to learn, to think, to speak and to act with greater theological confidence.

Sarum also hosts a number of special events throughout the year, including lectures and conferencesart exhibitions and lunchtime concerts. A variety of organisations, both religious and secular, find the College’s beautiful location, comfortable rooms and excellent food the perfect environment in which to think more deeply about the issues that matter to them.

“We were impressed by almost everything we saw and heard about the College, and especially by its clear sense of community, shared purpose and values; its clear educational vision and commitment to outreach; its high academic standards; its first class library and bookshop; its processes for monitoring and nurturing its students; its Trustees who are both professional and unstinting in their commitment to the College; and its Principal and Leadership Team who are both assiduous and dedicated in their excellent management of the College.”

Church of England Inspection Report

Within the college is a Christian bookshop with specialist and general titles in stock for browsing and mail order facility and a library with an outstanding collection of more than 40,000 books covering all denominations.

Sarum College’s education, accommodation and services are available to all, whether you’re studying on one of our courses, staying the night as a bed and breakfast guest, hiring one of our meeting rooms or just popping in to enjoy one of our fresh home made meals.
