Prayer and praise of God organised according to formal or informal liturgical patterns is foundational to Christian life and practice today, as it been for generations.
These patterns never stand still; they are influenced by, for example, culture, theology, social, political and intellectual movements. The Christian Liturgy and Worship programme brings together scholars and reflective practitioners for study, professional development and for experiential learning.
This new range of courses for Sarum College is designed to assist ordained and lay ministers to reflect upon and develop their skills in the leadership of worship as well as satisfy the increasing interest of many in the history of Christian worship and its contemporary expressions.
The programme, led by Juliette Day, Director of Liturgical Studies, will include opportunities for formal study leading to post-graduate qualifications, one-day seminars and workshops in pastoral liturgy, and conferences for academics and the general public.
This programme offers students a comprehensive study of all the key aspects of Christian liturgical worship with modules on the Eucharist, initiation, the Christian year, prayer, worship spaces, music and worship. These modules will explore the biblical, theological, historical and contemporary pastoral aspects of each theme and students will be encouraged to pursue their own interests in essays and seminars.
The course is suitable for those who live outside the Salisbury area and even overseas. Students from the Islands (eg, Channel Islands, Isle of Man, etc) are classed as ‘home’ students and do not pay overseas fees.

This series offers the opportunity to learn about and experience a particular pattern of Christian prayer. Not quite like a traditional retreat, there will be a mixture of teaching, group activity as well as time for prayer and reflection.

Sarum College's international symposium will consider the multifaceted role played by wisdom within Christian thought and practice and reflect on ways in which wisdom can inform the mission of the Christian churches today. Our purpose in organising such an event is to carefully discern how wisdom can help our churches to interrelate theology, spirituality and Christian practice.
The College is hosting a number of events to celebrate 150 years of theological education and 15 years since the founding of Sarum College as an ecumenical centre for Christian research and study.
