Visiting Scholar
Anne Dutton is the Librarian of Salisbury Cathedral. She studied History and Medieval Studies at the University of Toronto, followed by an M.A. and D.Phil. in Medieval Studies at the University of York. Her doctoral thesis focused on women’s use of devotional literature in late medieval England. She also holds an M.A. in Library and Information Studies from University College London, and has catalogued early printed books at the University of Oxford, and for the Earl of Pembroke and Montgomery at Wilton House.
She joined Salisbury Cathedral in 2017 as Assistant Librarian, and was appointed Cathedral Librarian in 2022. She is particularly interested in the history of the book, especially medieval manuscripts, incunabula (books printed before 1501), provenance, and bookbindings. Anne loves the Latin language, and, in her spare time, is learning to speak it.
