The Revd Jo Neary was among those recently installed into the College of Canons at Salisbury Cathedral, taking up the Slape Stall.
Jo is Team Vicar in the Beaminster Area Team in West Dorset and Tutor for Rural Ministry and Mission at Sarum College. She has a particular interest in rural pioneering and mission, rural poverty and social justice issues, as well as ministry with rural schools.
“Jo Neary is a much respected and appreciated colleague in the Sarum Centre for Formation in Ministry,” says James Woodward, Sarum College Principal. “She brings a reflective groundedness to our work and a passion to enable mission and ministry to thrive in all contexts but particularly in the rural context. She is a great teacher and we congratulate her on joining the Cathedral College of Canons.”
The College of Canons is part of the Cathedral’s extended family and meets twice a year to provide feedback on policy decisions made by Chapter, the Cathedral’s governing body, and on Cathedral activities.
Two others were made non-residentiary canons at the 23 May 2024 service: The Revd Keith Brindle, vicar of St James in Devizes; The Revd Sarah Godfrey, acting Team Rector for the Golden Cap Team in Dorset. David Pain, Diocesan Secretary and CEO of the Salisbury Diocesan Board of Finance, was made a Lay Canon.
