Sarum College welcomes the appointment of Bishop Sarah Mullally as the 106th Archbishop of Canterbury.
Bishop Sarah was a trustee of Sarum College during the time that she was a residentiary Canon of Salisbury Cathedral. She was part of the panel that appointed James Woodward as Sarum College Principal in June 2015. The whole College rejoices in her appointment to Canterbury and wants to assure her and her family of their support, encouragement and prayer for all that lies ahead.
James Woodward has written to Bishop Sarah to offer the Sarum communities warmest best wishes and prayers for her preparation to take up the post in 2026. ‘Bishop Sarah brings to this calling her understanding of the complexity of organisations, wisdom in living with difference and courage to change for the sharing of the Gospel. We wish her well and will pray for her.’
We are also delighted to share a former student’s sermon which marks and celebrates this appointment within the context of breaking open scripture with the people of Bristol Cathedral.
