Journalling Workshop 2: Connecting with your soul course
A Spiritual Journal is not a gentle endeavour, Henry French (2008) likens it to a white-water rafting experience, exhilarating and challenging in equal measure. It offers one the chance to enjoy the beauty of the river, the mists lifting off the water as the dawn breaks, the colours of the trees reflected on the river’s glassy surface, the strength of the current beneath you, the wildness of the white-water, and the tranquillity of the shallow eddies.
But Spiritual Journalling is no ‘free ride’. In this workshop your guide will invite you to step on to the raft, take up your pen as your metaphorical paddle and push off from the comfort of the shore to experience the journey from your own vantage point in a way you may not have dared to before.
This session will introduce approaches that may help you to identify recurring themes and important links in your journalling. It will encourage you to explore these creatively, offer ways to engage more deeply with the things that your own musings bring to light and create opportunities to enrich your journey of faith and relationship with God.
Course Preparation:
We recommend participants attend Spiritual Journalling Workshop 1 before attending this follow-on session. Participants should bring their own journals both recent and past to work with. Spend a little time before the session re-reading some of your entries and identify any themes that seem to emerge. Also bring pen and paper, and access to scripture, favourite poems and images.
