Made with Love: Prayerful Crafting for Advent course
The day will be delivered in four sessions in which participants will be led through devotional practices and resources to use during Advent weeks to accompany their own craft project. (Participants will be required to bring their own project to work on during the day).
A short introduction to the history and devotional practice of crafting for prayer and wellbeing.
1
We will consider the themes of waiting and expectation as we join Mary and Elizabeth during their pregnancies and consider the role of crafting during times of transitions in life and roles.
2
In this session we look at the prophetic role of John the Baptist and his place in the Advent season. We will explore the practice of Craftivism and how this can be an expression of our discipleship and commitment to social action and justice.
3
In this session we will notice how Advent and Christmas in the Northern Hemisphere coincide with the Winter Solstice and the shortest day. We will examine themes of darkness and light and how our craft practices can reflect this.
4
We look forward to the Birth of Jesus and examine opportunities to use crafting for individuals or groups as an evangelistic practice.
