Moving into Menopause course
The end of the world or the gateway to transformation? Both? Something in between?
The move into menopause (known as perimenopause) can be unsettling, uncomfortable, and unknown, occurring either naturally and gradually at midlife or suddenly, as a result of particular surgeries. In this one-day course we’ll look at how we might navigate this perimenopausal shift, exploring how theological landmarks can guide us, and how we might guide and support each other on the journey. We’ll consider theological questions including what it means to be created to go through perimenopause, what it teaches us about our sense of control and our identity, and the narratives that surround us in church and society.
This participative course will also be open to the theology emerging from the day itself, offering opportunities for reflection alone and together, and a variety of learning activities.
The course aims primarily to be helpful to those in perimenopause or who anticipate it. It will also be helpful to others who want to listen and learn in order to minister to those going through perimenopause.
