Theology Catch-Up: The Ascension course
What on earth (or in heaven) is the ascension all about? Why should we bother with it anyway? Although it is a regular fixture of the Christian year, and included in the creeds, for many the ascension remains a mystery, an afterthought or even a slightly embarrassing footnote in the story of Christ.
This term’s theology catch-up is for anyone who wants to find a way into this apparently ‘niche’ topic which goes to the heart of the eternal, precious and embodied nature of human experience. It will introduce you to different ways of understanding the ascension in Christian tradition and will bring you up to speed on recent literature, focussing on what the ascension says about Christ, what it says about us, and what it says about our hope for the future.
On this ascension day come learn, reflect and be inspired by the wonder of the ascension, all over a leisurely lunch break.
