Sarum College has appointed The Revd Anna Bishop as Maternity Cover Tutor and Lecturer within its Centre for Formation in Ministry which trains people for authorised lay and ordained ministry for the Church of England.
Anna has just started in the role teaching the undergraduate doctrine modules, covering for Dr Beth Dodd who is on maternity leave.
A Methodist Minister in the Salisbury Circuit, Anna held sole responsibility for the Salisbury Methodist Church during the pandemic. She has previous experience of urban, suburban and rural ministry following her career in teaching. She is on the Liturgy and Worship Subcommittee of the Methodist Faith and Order Committee, with an interest in liturgy that speaks into social justice. She is conducting doctoral research in disability theology.
“We are delighted to welcome Anna to the Sarum College academic faculty,” says The Revd Paul Burden, Dean of Ministry. “She combines a keen interest in understanding doctrine with its practical outworking in life and ministry, and we look forward to her contribution to the team.”
Anna says: “Having been enriched over recent years by the wealth of theological and spiritual resources that Sarum College offers the local Christian community, it is a great joy to be able to join this vibrant team and contribute something to the formation of a new generation of lay and ordained ministers.”
“Anna brings into our work a commitment to learning, an openness to the richness of our Christian traditions and experience of ministry which will be a wonderful resource for our ongoing work of formation during 2024,” says the Revd Canon Professor James Woodward, Principal of Sarum College. “We look forward to all that she will bring, and to learning with and from her.”
