Sarum College is pleased to announce the appointment* of Dr Jon Morgan as Coordinator of the Centre for Theology, Imagination and Culture.
Prior to the appointment, Dr Morgan was Lecturer in Hebrew Bible at the University of Exeter.
His primary research and teaching interests are in the history of the Bible’s reception in politics and popular culture (in particular film, television, and other visual culture); ecological hermeneutics; postcolonial/decolonial hermeneutics; queer hermeneutics; religion’s intersections with race, ethnicity, and Whiteness studies; and ancient and contemporary apocalypticism.
In this role, Dr Morgan will oversee Sarum College’s thriving MA programme in Theology, Imagination and Culture, which attracts a range of students from different faith traditions.
He will also support the development of the Centre’s other learning opportunities, including a programme of innovative short courses exploring various aspects of theology, imagination and culture.
‘I am delighted to be joining the team at Sarum,’ Morgan says. ‘The College boasts a long and noble history as a centre for theological learning and teaching but also has a vibrant and dynamic vision for its future—a future of which I am excited to be a part.’
‘Sarum College is pleased to welcome Jon, who brings an impressive record of teaching, research and academic partnership collaboration. He will strengthen the team and its outward facing learning agenda,’ says The Revd Canon Professor James Woodward, Principal of Sarum College. ‘I am looking forward to working and learning alongside him.’
