Sarum College is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Eleanor McLaughlin as Programme Leader for the Postgraduate Programmes in Theology, Imagination and Culture at Sarum College.
Dr McLaughlin is a Research Associate at the Oxford Centre for Religion and Culture. Her research interests include Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s theology, theological anthropology, and disability theology.
In this role, Dr McLaughlin will oversee Sarum College’s thriving postgraduate programmes in Theology, Imagination and Culture which attracts a range of students from different faith traditions and offers a Postgraduate Certificate (1 year), Postgraduate Diploma (2 years), and Master of Arts (3 years).
She will also support the development of Sarum’s other learning opportunities, including a programme of innovative short courses exploring various aspects related to her research interests.
‘I’m delighted to be joining the team at Sarum College,’ Dr McLaughlin says. ‘This role provides many exciting opportunities for developing and expanding on the excellent provision already in place in the Theology, Imagination and Culture programmes, and I’m looking forward to sharing in the long tradition of welcome and hospitality offered by Sarum. I hope to put my experience and expertise to the service of all the students who come to Sarum to find out more about theology and how it relates to our world today.’
‘The academic work at Sarum College has been undergoing a significant amount of revision and renewal in recent months and I feel encouraged about our future, despite the challenges faced by students and staff alike this year,’ says Dr Jayme Reaves, Director of Academic Development. ’I’m delighted to have Dr McLaughlin on board with the Sarum academic team and very much look forward to the valuable contributions that I know she will make not only to the postgraduate programmes in Theology, Imagination, and Culture but to the College as a whole.’
‘Dr McLaughlin was appointed to this post from a very strong field of candidates. She brings into the Sarum academic faculty significant skill and experience of teaching and learning, academic administration, supervision and research,’ says The Revd Canon Professor James Woodward, Principal of Sarum College. ‘I look forward to the MA in Theology Imagination and Culture going from strength to strength under her leadership.’
Dr McLaughlin will be in post 18 January 2021.
