Salisbury Rural Ministry Team Launches Symposium Podcast

Home News Salisbury Rural Ministry Team Launches Symposium Podcast
College News

by The Revd Jo Neary

One of the constant repeated cries whenever we gather as rural church members at deanery or diocesan level is how can we effectively communicate good practice and share experiences and resources. This was strongly fed back to us at our recent Rural Days in both the north and south of the diocese.

Each of us communicate in different ways and enjoy receiving information in different ways. We might prefer reading information, or consuming information in bitesize form, having a conversation with someone, or listening to someone speak. Mindful of that diversity and keen to get the message out about the challenges and joys of rural ministry we decided to experiment with a podcast.

The Rural Symposium, on which the podcast is based, took place in September and brought together a number of rural ministry practitioners and those supporting, funding and encouraging rural ministry from across the local and national church. With such high-quality speakers, it seemed sensible to try to capture some of the stories and learning from the day to share more widely.

Our podcast producer, Andy Taylor from Bwlb, recorded each talk in full and interviewed participants on the day to get feedback in the moment. A highlights package was then created with links recorded at home to connect each segment together. We hope you enjoy the podcast and would love your feedback about whether this method of sharing content and information is useful to you.

The team are exploring the idea of producing a series of podcasts about rural mission and ministry.
