Reflection
I wonder how you go about resolving difficult situations? I remember an amazing friend who when caught up in a crisis would more often than not resolve it with the therapy of laughter. Laughter lifts and shifts our hearts and eyes. It can change the way we connect. Laughter is simply something that we cannot do without.
In this we need to have the keenest sense of the ridiculous–in life’s ironies, in those situations and people that are… testing! Laughter puts us all in the same boat. Laughter transforms and builds bonds of affection with our fellow human beings. Above all, laughing at ourselves rescues us from our worst tendencies. It so often restores a perspective within which we can all thrive and grow.

Prayer
Loving Father,
Lord of clowns and smiling saints,
we rejoice that You are a God of laughter and tears. Blessed are You, for You have rooted within us
the gifts of humor, lightheartedness and mirth.
With jokes and comedy, You cause our hearts to sing as laughter flows out of us.
We delight in that Holy Madness
which becomes medicine to heal the chaos of the cosmos since it calls each of us
from the hum-drumness of daily life
into joy, adventure,
and most of all, into freedom.
Blessed are You, O Lord, our God,
Who invites us to be filled with holy laughter.
Amen
Action
Give thanks for those who can make us smile. And let us always resolve to share with others those stories against ourselves and thereby allows all to deepen trust in our shared human connectivity. And never forget to smile for others!
