At the end of their June meeting, the Sarum College Trustees took the opportunity to thank the Rt Revd Alastair Redfern, who is leaving the Trustee body having handed over the role of Chair of Trustees to the Rt Revd John Inge at their March meeting. Glasses were raised and thanks were given. The photo shows the Trustees joined by College Principal James Woodward and staff representative Michael Hahn.
Bishop John says: “I feel honoured to be the successor to Bishop Alastair as Chair of the Trustees. He has fulfilled that role wonderfully and given so much. His wisdom, thoughtfulness and commitment have combined to make him a huge blessing to Sarum College, steering it through choppy waters to be very well placed to meet future challenges. I give heartfelt thanks for him.”
“It has been an enormous privilege and pleasure to have worked with Bishop Alastair for over 8 years as he has steered, guided and enabled the governance of our work.” says James Woodward, College Principal. “I have valued his considerable skill, wisdom and the extraordinarily agility he has steadfastly shown in affirming and appreciating what is good. He has never allowed us to lose sight of possible futures. His care and friendship together with his intellectual rigour leave their mark on the shape of this community. I owe him a huge debt of gratitude as Principal, Priest and Theological Educator.”
Bishop Alastair says: “It has been a huge privilege to work with Professor James Woodward, and so many distinguished colleagues as trustees, to help create an institution of learning, formation and theological study that goes from strength to strength, both in terms of serving the church, and in reaching out to the wider community with opportunities for engagement and nourishment.”
The Trustees are responsible for the management and finances of the College, including envisioning Sarum’s future; planning strategic direction; and giving guidance and direction to the College Executive. Brief biographies of the Trustees are given on our Governance webpage
