MA Module Embodied Christian Spirituality course
With the popular misconception that spirituality is something that gets us away from our bodies, this module asks what Christianity looks like when we take our embodied existence (and the material world around us) seriously. Rather than just acknowledging that we are embodied beings, this module asks how specific experiences of embodiment impact the ways people experience and live out a Christian spirituality, by taking into account, for example, Black, queer and disability perspectives. We also examine the human body as a site of experience and the role of the multifaceted ‘bodies’ of Christ.
This excellent embodied study of Christian Spirituality is part of the Christian Spirituality postgraduate studies programme and is open to ‘auditors’ e.g. those who join the course without receiving academic credit.
What does it mean to audit a course?
This course would made an excellent addition to a study break, retreat or sabbatical in the beautiful Salisbury Cathedral Close, where residential participants enjoy full board, access to the library and to the pattern of liturgy at Salisbury Cathedral.
