About the Preaching from Luke course
Luke is the primary gospel for the next lectionary year, and this is a day for anyone who preaches to consider this gospel and to gain fresh thinking for the task of preaching in the year ahead.
This is a day for anyone who preaches to think again about the calling we have and gain some fresh thinking for the year ahead. As the primary gospel for the next lectionary year, we will spend time today with the gospel according to Luke. Luke contains some of the greatly loved passages of scripture such as the Magnificat, the shepherds on the hills and the parable of the Prodigal. But there is more to Luke than these familiar passages and we will explore the shape and style, the emphases and purpose, including the relationship with the book of Acts. We will consider how our preaching might respect and work with the with the main themes and style of Luke, and will work with some example passages together with some broader reflection on the task of preaching in the current context.
